| Table of Contents: 1. Making a CustomKeys file and enabling it in Warcraft III for easier gameplay 2. Hotkey Groups ( Much more simple than what everyone else has and great for new and old players, and they're made for maximum speed and efficiency ) 3. Exact Directions on picking spells fast and grouping fast ( Btw, if you ever play Any 1.41 to 1.43 versions, you can group your units at the 10 seconds timer if Gondor doesn't type -an ) 4. Spells for each hero after Level 1 5. Tips+Info ( Very good information to know as you keep playing you'll end up knowing all of them ) 6. Drilling ( Really look at this if you want to do things extremely fast because this seriously helps a ton ) 7. Suggestive play style 8. Practicing Surround ( Although you won't really need to do this as FS, you can check it out if you want to play a race like Rohan/Gondor or any other race with a large amount of units ) 9. Other useful things FS needs to do besides killing... 10. Old ScreenShots -------------------------------------------------------------------------Part 1 ---------------------------------------------------------------- The following file is to make it far easier to play RW by making the keys you normally wouldn't use over to the left side of the keyboard so that they become more viable Make a blank notepad file and name it '' CustomKeys '' and put it into your C:Drive\Program Files\Warcraft III folder Go into Warcraft III and go to Options--->Gameplay--->Enable Custom Keyboard Shortcuts Changes your Move-M to Move-Q and your Load-L to Load-D and Unload-U to Unload-F Also changes your Abolish Magic on Goldberry from B to R ( This spell deals 300 to summoned units like Pink's Balrog and it has only 1 second cooldown and it can be used to get your hero out of sleep if you're fast enough ) | Code: | [Hotkeys] [cmdmove] Buttonpos=0,0 Tip=|cFFFFFFFF(|cFFFFCC00Q|cFFFFFFFF) Move|r Hotkey=Q [cmdattack] Buttonpos=3,0 Tip=|cFFFFFFFF(|cFFFFCC00A|cFFFFFFFF) Attack|r Hotkey=A [cmdattackground] Buttonpos=3,1 Tip=|cFFFFFFFF(|cFFFFCC00G|cFFFFFFFF) Attack Ground|r Hotkey=G [cmdbuildhuman] Buttonpos=0,2 Tip=|cFFFFFFFF(|cFFFFCC00B|cFFFFFFFF) Build Structure|r Hotkey=B [cmdbuildorc] Buttonpos=0,2 Tip=|cFFFFFFFF(|cFFFFCC00B|cFFFFFFFF) Build Structure|r Hotkey=B [cmdbuildnightelf] Buttonpos=0,2 Tip=|cFFFFFFFF(|cFFFFCC00B|cFFFFFFFF) Create Building|r Hotkey=B [cmdbuildundead] Buttonpos=0,2 Tip=|cFFFFFFFF(|cFFFFCC00B|cFFFFFFFF) Summon Building|r Hotkey=B [cmdholdpos] Buttonpos=2,0 Tip=|cFFFFFFFF(|cFFFFCC00H|cFFFFFFFF) Hold Position|r Hotkey=H [cmdpatrol] Buttonpos=0,1 Tip=|cFFFFFFFF(|cFFFFCC00P|cFFFFFFFF) Patrol|r Hotkey=P [cmdrally] Buttonpos=3,1 Tip=|cFFFFFFFF(|cFFFFCC00Y|cFFFFFFFF) Set Rally Point|r Hotkey=K [cmdselectskill] Buttonpos=3,1 Tip=|cFFFFFFFF(|cFFFFCC00O|cFFFFFFFF) Hero Abilities|r Hotkey=O [cmdstop] Buttonpos=1,0 Tip=|cFFFFFFFF(|cFFFFCC00S|cFFFFFFFF) Stop|r Hotkey=S

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Part 5~~Tips+Info~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tips0: Groups 4 and 5 Can be used to Move Group 4 to Quick stomp while you pull everyone in Group 5 out of harms way Tips0-Continuity-Example: Group 5 Moves a little to the back or the side away from the incoming waves while Group 4 runs straight at target point or large enemy group. (Keeps you alive) Tips1: Don't always QuickLoad Frodo for the purpose of using Load on another hero ( Or you drop frodo to stomp while you load another hero ) Tips2: Right click after a Stormbolt to set all heroes to go after the same target Tips3: Gandalf uses Hotkey E to Heal unlike heroes such as Aragorn, Boromir, Pippin, which uses Hotkey R Tips4: You'll sometimes need to switch to Heal and do the other commands afterwards Tips5: Legolas' wave is only 4 seconds while Aragorn's is 8 seconds Tips6: Gandalf's LightOfValinor has a 20 second cooldown, Radius of 350 Tips7: Elven Rope has a 30 second cooldown 1.5-2.5-3.5 Disable, Singular Tips8: Gwaihir is the 11th Unit in Selection Tips9: Practice at fountain during a game if no enemy is present Tips10: Elven Rope should be used last if you're in a big cluster as Frodo Stomp should always take precedence (Disrupts attacks and keeps you and allies alive) Tips10-Continuity: Frodo stomp can make enemies lose hope Tips11: If you're in the back row, press alt and Heal allied heroes when you're not in danger Tips12: Always keep your eyes on all heroes mana pool and hitpoints in selection Tips13: Drop Frodo Stomp as much as possible Tips14: FS can take Naz at any Level as long as FS is the same or greater Tips15: Always cast Song of Gondor ( Merry, 4th Hero ) before entering a fight, and atleast 10 seconds prior Tips16: Nazguls move slightly faster than Gwaihir Tips17: You'll sometimes be clicking Frodo out of the bird for quick drop-stomp Tips18: Gandalf Heals for 300(Deals 150 to Undead), Aragorn Heals for 300-600-900(Deals 150-300-450 to Undead), Boromir Heals for 200-400-600, Peregrin Heals for 200-400-600 Tips19: Aragorn's Armor Aura is 2-4-6 but his tooltips read 1-3-4 Tips20: Merry's Stab deals 500 Damage despite what the Descriptions saying 400 ( Level 6 Spell ) You can either right click with gwaihir on frodo(his icon on the left, grouping icon, or the unit in battle) to put him back.
"Knowing the skills is one thing, doing the rest is another." "Remember that a good FS has be able to save heros."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Part 6~~~~~~Getting used to the Keys+Finger Placement And DRILLING~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before you actually play a game, go in single player and put one compslot on or get me and I'll sit in a priv game with you ( one comp slot on other side and me + you on Team 1 ( I can look at what you're doing ) You'll be doing #8 for quite a long time... 1.Move All Elf heroes and all Of Fs to fountain ( Choose Energy Draw on Elrond and have him sit beside the fountain ) 2. Send Gondor's units to mordor 3. Bring Aragorn and Legolas about 400 range to the left of fountain 4. Put Aragorn and Legolas in Group2, and Aragorn and Gandalf in Group3, and Frodo and Gwaihir in Group4 5. Put the rest of the heroes inside Minas Tirith 6. Wave with Group2 until you can do it in less than one second ( Yes, you can get that fast and you'll want it so you can switch to do something else later on ) 7. Now do Group3 repeatedly until you can do it in less than one second(Btw, periodically council with Elrond at fountain so you get mana) 8. Repeat this until.....Now do Group2 and then Switch into Group3 really fast ( Both must be completed quick and they both can be done in one second or less ) 9. Now take Group4 and only Group4 and put frodo out of bird and press 4 --> G --> Tab --> D --> Click Frodo Icon in Selection ( Repeat this until frodo instantly goes into bird as soon as the spell is casted, because this will help you a ton in the long run when you're in a fight, especially if you want to use Frodo in areas most people won't want to drop due to high risk of death ) Using Group4 means you can maximum the stun radius if you do drop him in the middle of the enemy and then insta-load after stomping to prevent you from being killed.
Section A: //Approximate finger placements Finger placement for doing slams: Thumb should be on the spacebar, mid-finger should be near W and inbetween #2 and 3 or on #3, finger above pinky should be on Tab, and the Index finger should be on G. Finger placement for doing waves: Mid-finger should be on W and finger above pinky on Tab, thumb on spacebar, and finger below thumb near R.
Section B: //Do these 4-10 times in a DLER game just to get used to keys //Practice Disable Spells timing in a all DLER game so you don't die ( Go Gimli - Elven Rope - Frodo Stomp ) or (Gimli Frodo Stomp Elven Rope) so you know how much time 1.5 to 2 seconds feels like(very useful) //Wave just after Gimli's Stun, Slams, Right click target, Press 1 and Tab 4x and Press R on target, right click, Frodo stomp
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Part 7 Suggestive Play Style ( it's the easiest one to play with~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Steps for Suggestive play style: When planting Group 4 to a predeterrmined location, press 5 and right click on target, and Tab to Gimli and Cast Stormbolt on a hero. //If frodo drops soon, stomp immediately unless you have extra time Break the Order and Heal if needed
Click Group 2 and do Waves Click Group 3 and do Slams ( This one depends on proximity but go berserk at will, and you really don't need to get too close ) Click Group 4 and do Stomp and QuickLoad or Press 5, Tab 5 times and Press R on enemy hero //Depends on whether they have Ovatha or alot of Naz within range to cast their spells //Stomp takes priority Click Group 4 and do Stomp and QuickLoad or Press 5, Tab 5 times and Press R on enemy hero //Depends on whether they have Ovatha or alot of Naz within range to cast their spells Press 1 and check for heroes that need to be healed Click Group 4 and unload Frodo ( Cooldown is only 6 Seconds while it can stun for 2-3-4 Seconds in Radius of 350 Council and Legolas Wave
Also, if you're chasing, immediately put Frodo back into bird and press 1 or 5 and move ( be sure that you know Frodo is in the bird as you move ) or put Gimli in bird but risk Frodo in open
-----------------------------------------------------------Part 8----------------------------------------------------- http://www.epicwar.com/maps/24719/ <----- This map isn't RW but it's very good for practicing surrounding and blocking
You'll use the Q key alot for this map. Try to get a score of 5 or 6 and play it in single player for least lag.
-----------------------------------------------------------Part 9-----------------------------------------------------
1. Shift+Number ( Functions of Control+Number + Selected Unit adds into Control+Number ) 2. Control+Number 3. Learn Holding Alt Temporarily 4. Learn Basic Surrounds ( Normal ) // Q Key
5. Team healing: the act of healing a friendly target hero 6. Always checking allied heroes HP by pressing alt ( Necessary for #5 ) 7. Birding a friendly hero ( Mutual shared control is required ) <--- Outside the scope for the most part and for most people but very useful as you play more 8. Don't do this one until later. It's very useful, but it's not required. Other things to learn: Pulling the dying target hero or unit away in battle individually: this helps you let the rest of the heroes keep attacking while the dying one is moved back ) You can also pull away a dying hero while healing it and giving the command to bird that hero ( Pulling back reduces the damage the target is taking by melee units -----------------------------------------------------------Part 10------------------------------------------------------ Old Screenshots Story: I ran into the cave alone by myself as a level 1 FS vs Pink's 24-30 goblins and his 3 heroes. I found myself having to cast my spells twice to get rid of most of his units, and I had already casted my disable spells on gollum, and I wasn't within range at the end except for Sam's 1.5 second disable. It gave me enough time to surround him with FS at the end of it. He stomped me twice earlier with the balrog and tried to strangle me with gollum earlier, but I got out of it by stunning gollum. Allies never came until the fight was over, so it was basically all me, and I ended the fight with near 100% HP. This was one of the only times I found surrounding to be useful as FS and I already practiced surrounding a bit in that map before this game. http://img512.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ggeveroloneol8.jpg
Addison, this guide of fellowship is incredibly detailed down to the last bit. Very, very good job. Honestly I didn't know you had this extensive knowledge, for I do not and I've played ring wars ever since it came out on RoC. Custom keys are working great I'm loving the fellowship strat you put together. I've been aiming for a playstyle that would be effective and you hit the keynote. Great, great work. I look forward to reading your other guides. Keep up the good work.
The hotkeys for D F G all fit nicely on the keyboard and so does hotkey 4 and 5 placement. Be sure to spam 5/4 with two fingers from 1500-700 range before a fight starts ( helps a bit and gets you ready ). Like a guide, it's just a guide. It's mostly to get people who seriously want to learn but have no knowledge or good experience playing, and also for players who have never played the map before. This one is simple and easy to understand.
I can understand Eru's remarks but truely the custom key's bit was great and is working great for me. Loved the strat you put together I'll read all the guides, long or short. (Best make them long to keep Eru from reading )
So far... zion(doing great so far... just need to heal a bit more when you're trying to copy what I do...especially anything that looks suicidal...I know they're loads of fun), isil(doens't play much so I don't really know...), maleus(not really, but he's got that attitude...yet his apm isn't all that great... and he died in ways I couldn't even imagine...he doesn't seem to use the 5/4 keys as the replays would show), beregond(just starting. problems now are his fingers and his ability to quickly switch keys... he could try to spam tab with the finger below the middle one while doing nothing... and spam 5/4 keys while pressing mouseclick on the minimap)... xBilbo-Bagginsx ( not sure yet... I haven't bothered to help him yet...)there's really only 4 ppl here since this clan started and maleus kinda doesn't count... haven't made the last 4 ppl to play http://www.epicwar.com/maps/24719/ and be able to beat levels 1-5 ( doesn't have to be in one go ) their potential to play blue/red really well can be somewhat related to how they can beat levels 1-5 in that map if a person can beat #6 and #10 in that map, they have a very high potential for those two races.
