Regarding any CMs this clan may have...RW for main part and WotJ at the very bottom. Last Edit: 1:15AM Monday, April 20, 2009
The following rarely mentions Rohan, Elves, Shire, and Dwarves because those aren't one of the more crucial races needed to start. They can be improved upon at a later date but FS and Gondor should be done first before the rest because I find that these two races build a good foundation for the other races if he or she wants to learn to play those races.
Now...
1a. If you happen to make an RW cm with another clan. It'd best to make the FS player(s) practice based on what the FS guide says because 1) You can play 100 hours of constant FS play and yet reach little to no improvement if you're just starting to play and as opposed to someone who practiced through the guide with only 20 hours of constant FS play and reach much greater improvement because the player knows exactly what to practice and how to practice it, 2) Majority of the FS things can be practiced in singleplayer, 3) Doing Drills and practicing it is much faster, 4) Just learn the different style of play because it's based on speed and offensive style, 5) It gives those players a better sense of their race so they can learn much faster and spend less time going through the process of learning it, instead of, say, trying to discover everything about their yet almost all of them never do, and 6) I've seen many players who have played RW since the start of RoC/TFT and yet they still haven't been able to extremely well as one would expect as far as to play FS. Only a few can.
It didn't take long for me to practice doing those and it later became extremely useful when me and some old clan mates were raping insecticide(usually naz), alci, everol, redlite, and two arda players all the time( these people are more known to most of you so I listed them instead ), and they sometimes even had spec on their team. A few times we were going into a battle and I literally killed 3 naz in a couple of seconds and along with a couple of units too. And those few games were also the ones that we won in a couple of minutes too. We also won almost every game vs those kids when we were on good with either me or my clan mates on FS. And that's a good reason to do those drills. They totally come in handy. Never saved those replays because they seemed so easy to get at the time of playing. This was also done in the older versions before the massive change to FS ( which is harder for most people but we found it much easier ).
There are a few players I noticed that seriously need help, especially diefatass5, and offconstantly. They both run around back and forth for 30 seconds in the whole battle not doing a thing. And for diefatass5, he'll call himself ''uber pro fs'' even though he barely even killed anything or helped his team by healing. Offconstantly was running away vs 12 units yet he could've just easily birded the hero and having waved/slamed before. Offconstantly is also almost always never at the front of the battle or even nearby to do any damage. He's too much of a chicken to run in and attack with FS. He isn't capable of choosing spells and grouping units and heroes while on the move( The guide has info on doing that too in case the person does not know how to do so ). I also found him creeping at the start of the game, and it took him more than 2 minutes to get over to Rohan or Gondor because he's too afraid to walk near Isengard alone. Atleast 90 seconds wasted at the start if it was not a pub game. Diefatass5 lost Aragorn vs 8 level 0 goblins because he can't bird him nor heal him( Aragorn wasn't even surrounded either and there were no other enemies around at the time ). He also lost gimli for not being able to control his units to not move so far ahead. Those are totally dumb reasons for losing their heroes. It kind of sucks when most people can't play FS anymore nor can they make the most out of the FS heroes anymore. CcM2, M.dunedain, and a ton of other people who reside in Arda can't play FS well either. They're slow and can never make the best out of FS.
I also noticed that no one ever activates Sam and Legolas' autocastable abilities. One is to slow a target for 0.75 seconds while the other is for +25 damage per hit. There's absolutely no reason not to do it for Sam ( He has no other spell besides his Elven rope and Ulti ). Both spells being practically useless outside their main application. And the cry spell on Meriadoc should almost always be used before entering a fight.
Reasons to having the weird 5/4 hotkey groups to most people are: 1) Gimli is the second slowest hero in the hero group, and therefore, will make your entire hero group slow down to Gimli ( Frodo is the slowest but, for the most part, will always be inside the Gwaihir ). 2) Deselecting the Gwaihir bird when you want to split them away can be annoying to do and that's for having Group 5. 3) Gwaihir moves faster than all of the FS so when you want to chase or get Frodo into a battle faster to stomp, you can do it by sending Group 4 to drop while you move Group 5.
1b. This goes as well for the Gondor player(s) too because 1) They learn to setup Gondor before the first attack which is crucial, and 2) It can also be practiced in singleplayer, and 3) They don't feed the enemy units if they followed that Gondor guide. Those units could be put to use elsewhere in another battle and they're extremely weak so it's good to save them up, and 4) Protect your allies by shielding them with a wall of knights so normal units don't get through but AoE spells will because you can't always charge in and surround a target and it's sometimes better not to. Primary function of their heroes should be to heal an ally and wave as secondary. In some instances, players attack Gondor just because you have units laying around Minas area to Gondor area. They even power level off of you ( some harad players do that and then win the game in like a few minutes just by that ). Players people would attack are arcangel10 due to his inability to move his footies away from the main battle ( AoE damaging spells ) and keeps throwing them at Naz ( feeding ). He's just one example among many others. Need I say more?
To try is to fail, but to do is to succeed.
I don't see many players cast waves as part of one of the first things they should do to start a battle, nor do they frodo stomp a lot throughout the fight. 1. Spamming your AoE spells means that you and your allies are less likely to get surrounded by units in the first place and also take much less damage. 2. You also kill your enemies faster and end the battle faster, meaning you win faster.
2. Get better hardware. It's common sense that a 24 inch screen with a good computer is easier to play with and you can team healing other heroes, players, and ultimately yourself much better. Just easier to see what's going on.
3. Normal Screen length is 1650 Range from Left to Right. Heal Range is 800 ( Half the Screen distance ) except for healing waves ( 700 ). This means you can sit behind allies at around 600 Range and press and hold alt for a few seconds periodically to find the hero that needs healing.
Both Shire and Gondor can sit back a bit and avoid Silence and AoE spells so they don't have to heal themselves and only their allies.
One healing wave and 5 instant heals will keep your allies safe and sound. Prolonging your teammates while the enemy is constantly trying to kill that one hero who's nearly dead for 10 seconds can make or break the game( It'll cost them a lot of men just to keep doing that while gaining nothing out of it ).
-Rohan/Elf/FS/Dwarves should be the ones to be in the front
Rohan should be shielding/surrounding/chasing/blocking with minimal healing ( only one heal ), and also red arrow allies if possible.
Elf should primarily be waving and focusing a bit while also healing allies or self. Mana burn too, and a bit of taunt, and dispell.
FS should be waving, slamming, frodo stomping, birding self, (birding allies too and I've done it numerous times with old clan mates yet this is one of the things outside of the basic FS requirements), team healing, healing self, and council others. All of those should be done.
Dwarves: Aside from just casting the 3 stun spells, they should also cast the wave from gloin, the 3 slams, and stomp.
Buffs that stack:
The cry on Grimbold( Rohan Demi ) does not work with Celeborn's cry spell. One overrides the other. ( 2 armor demi or 2-4-7 armor and both AoE )
Celeborn's cry does not work with Rohan's cry or FS' cry. One overrides the other.
Faramir and Boromir's armor buff does stack ( Same spell ). (2-4-6 armor AoE)
Faramir or Boromir's can stack with Celeborn's cry spell.
The +1 armor aura on FS and haldir, Aragorn's armor aura ( 2-4-6 ) stacks with Eomer's armor aura ( 1.5-3.0-4.5 ). Final value at maximum level = 1+6+4.5 = 13.5 armor.
Celeborn's cry + Faramir or Boromir's armor buff + the 3 stacking auras = 24.5 armor buff total.
Saruman's staff gives 20% spell resistance aura. Hero resistance is 25%. They both stack and gives 0.80 x 0.75 = 0.60 x Final Damage = Damage taken from spells. For units, that aura is only 0.80 x Final Damage = Damage taken from spells.
Boromir's Damage Aura (15%) + Theoden's Damage Aura stack ( 10-20-30% ) = 25% - 35% - 45% ( 1.25x , 1.35x, 1.45x damage multiplier )
The above auras also stack with the Damage Buffs from either Rohan's cry, FS' Cry, or Celeborn's Cry ( only one of the 3 or one of them cancels the other ) = 1.95x damage multiplier.
WotJ:
If you intend to CM in this map vs TEO, only ask for a Noldor vs Evil and demand to only play Noldor ( one game as the match ).
They literally got raped when me and my old clan played them and we only wanted to play as Noldor for 1 game but then we felt like playing on Evil too. They got raped 12-2 when we were on Noldor and 12-0 when we were on Evil. I still got the screens for those. ( We wanted to give them an advantage but they still ended up getting massively raped under the initial conditions for just only one game. )
We always played with tons of risk on Noldor, such as choosing only two Heals at level one ( Teal's ) while picking 2 of the 3 waves ( demi does not count ) or sometimes even picking only Teal's Heal and having 3 of 3 waves ( demi does not count ) and then pick the heals at level 2. Not that you'd ever want to do this unless you wanted to initiate battles almost immediately at the start of the game so it's not waiting for a couple of minutes before anyone attacks ( It's really boring to do this ).
